Scientific Imagination: What If- Imagine This

At ‘Scientific Imagination,’ we introduce to you an extraordinary series, ‘What If- Imagine This,’  is where we delve into the realms of space exploration.

The art of thought experiments is the heart of ‘What If- Imagine This.’ These imaginative exercises allow us to traverse the boundaries of what is known and venture into the realms of the unknown. By stretching the fabric of reality, thought experiments empower us to question, hypothesize, and explore the infinite possibilities that lie beyond the directly observable.

Drawing inspiration from philosophical thought experiments, the series pays homage to the deep interconnection between philosophy and science. In collaboration with partners, we conduct careful contemplation and imaginative exploration, we craft scenarios that push the boundaries of conventional wisdom and provide glimpses into the uncharted realms of the cosmos.

Workshop Analogue Astronauts EuroMoonMars

The workshop ‘utopian thinking and the role of the imagination in analogue astronaut missions’, was designed specifically for the CHILL-ICE crew of EuroMoonMars. It was a workshop in which we engaged in conversation about world-building and the role of imagination through thought-provoking film clips. We then engaged in a conversation about the role of imagination in analog astronaut missions.

The interactive map below is composed by Aldo de Moor. Aldo composed this map using the participants’ responses to a survey about the role of imagination in their profession. Thanks to the input of the attendees and the guiding structure of the map, it turned into an engaging conversation about the importance of imagination in space.
